GROWING WITH GUITARS

GUITARS HAVE BEEN A MAINSTAY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MUSIC SINCE THE 1400'S, AND THERE ARE SUGGESTIONS THAT IT STILL MIGHT NOT BE TOO LATE FOR PEOPLE TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY ONE.

Since the first guitar was invented in the 15th century in Malaga, Spain, the popularity of the instrument has increased over time with generations of people being experts in replicating other people’s tunes or going big and creating their own. However, there has always been a suspicion that people learned how to play guitar in the early stages of their development, having more than enough time to master it. We believe this to be rubbish, as we think that there are no age barriers when learning how to play the gee-tar!

 

Approximately 500 million people in the world can play a guitar, with the average age of a player being 12-24 years old. Nevertheless, guitar sales are back on the rise and are plain and simple to learn the basics of. Adults of an age of 30-49 years old are at a great stage of life to start learning, with inspiration from guitar heroes such as: Jimi Hendrix, Noel Gallagher [formerly of Oasis] and Gary “Mani” Mounfield [formerly of The Stone Roses].

There are lots of benefits for the overall development of a person by playing an instrument, specifically a guitar, which can aid with benefits towards mental health. Learning the different strumming patterns and chords can sharpen your concentration endless amounts, while also increasing your memory capacity by remembering chord patterns and riffs to songs. Furthermore, it is a great form of relaxant as it helps ease stress, while anxiety levels can decrease also. Despite the public’s opinions, the guitar actually aids people more than what people believe at a first thought.

It isn’t too late to learn a guitar, many people have learned as late bloomers and have become really successful by doing so. It can change lives getting into music, whether it’s listening or playing. Give it a try, it will help you more than you will understand, and who knows… you might enjoy it!
