For our first project of our final year in our Photography A-Level, we were given free reign to choose the direction we wanted our project to go in. I wanted to focus on something I was interested in, which could also open up the opportunity for good quality photographs. I coincidentally chose sports photography as the route I wanted to pursue. I would rely on adapting the settings of my camera, mainly shutter speed, to aid me in capturing the movement of the players in the game. This wouldn't be easy as the sport I chose was Football, which can consequently produce high paced matches and phases of play throughout. At first I intended to capture the players and use my expertise on Adobe Photoshop to help me digitally develop these images, however after continuous evaluation we decided to have a look into the fans and their backgrounds, as we could see potential for a good shoot linking to the variances of people who would watch a specific team (in my case, the team was Ramsbottom United).
I quite enjoyed this project as I got to combine two things I really enjoy and create some high quality work out of it using a wide range of material. It was a style of photography I wasn't familiar with before the project, so I gained a lot of new skills and learnt a lot of different techniques by doing it so I am pleased I got the chance to do so.
